GOPA Infra is searching for Solid Waste Management (SWM) experts for ongoing and future projects
Qualifications: 
  • At least 5 years experience in one of the following areas:
  1. Integrated solid waste management (IWRM);
  2. Waste minimisation, waste collection, waste treatment, recovery, composting, recycling and landfilling;
  3. Hazardous waste, pollution control, eco-efficiency, SWM environmental policy;
  4. E-Waste/WEEE;
  5. Waste management facilities: all types of landfills, waste transfer stations, compost and sorting plants;
  6. Design and operation of landfill sites;
  7. Implementation and operation of municipal and industrial waste collection, transportation, treatment and disposal systems;
  8. Support in the extension and improvement of municipal waste services;
  9. Specifications & procurement for street sweeping, waste collection and waste transport equipment;
  10. Preparation of tender documents;
  11. SWM institutional strengthening/capacity building;
  12. Planning, strategy, legal and policy development (national and regional maters plans) in SWM;
  13. Waste management policy analysis and financial mechanisms;
  14. Management information systems (MIS) and financial management systems (FMS) for SWM;
  15. Development and implementation of a gate fee and tariff system including a tariff collection mechanism for SWM;
  16. Communication, PR and awareness raising campaigns for SWM; and
  17. Gender mainstreaming in waste management.
  • S/he will have an accredited University Graduate Degree in one or more relevant fields (Civil Engineering, environmental science, or similar)

  • S/he will have significant experience in the developing world. Experience in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and/or Latin America or geographically similar countries, and other lower-income or lower-middle income countries would be advantages.

  • S/he must have excellent communication skills and it is essential to have full professional proficiency in at least one of the following languages: English, French, Spanish & Portuguese.
