Project background: 

The German Government is committed to support the Egyptian Government in this reform and to strengthen the cooperation in the technical education area significantly. This has been underlined through the announcement of the German-Egyptian “New and Comprehensive Technical Education Initiative (NCTI)” in the end of 2018.

This project will be the first financial cooperation project implemented under the frame of the NCTI. It directly contributes to Pillar 4 of the TE 2.0.

Service description: 

GOPA Infra, in consortium with GOPA Worldwide Consultants, is supporting the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the project partners Mars el-Kheir and GAEBin implementing the following activities as a part of this project:

  • Development of state-of-the-art architectural design and planning for 3 CoCs (2 new construction, 1 complete overhaul of 1 existing school)
  • Procurement of construction, TVET equipment and furniture for 3 CoCs
  • Upgrading the school buildings, classrooms and workshops of approx. 20 existing Technical Secondary Schools (TSS)
  • Equipping classrooms and workshops with adequate learning tools and needed learning material in 20 TSS
  • Developing practical cooperation between CoCs and local public and private companies
  • Developing a maintenance concept for CoCs and TSS and ensuring its application
  • Developing new training programs in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the CoCs
Objectives: 

The overall objective of the programme is to improve the technical and human capacities of the promoted technical schools and Centers of Competence (CoC) in order to offer labour-market relevant, high-quality and practice oriented advanced vocational training in Egypt.

The project “Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training” (TVET) is divided into two components:

  • Component 1: “Centers of Competence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training”, which concerns the establishment of three Centers of Competence (CoC) focusing on the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Component 2: “Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training”, which comprises upgrading of approx. 20 Technical Secondary Schools (TSS).
