Objectives: 

Improvement of sanitation service to around 110 thousand inhabitants in Gjilan through i) the construction of a WWTP with a capacity of 76,000 population equivalent, with primary and secondary treatment and anaerobic sludge digestion, and ii) the rehabilitation and extension of the wastewater network in the City of Gjilan and neighbouring communities ( approximatively 7 Km of  rehabilitation and 28.3 km of expansions) iii) supply of equipment and iv) the construction supervision services for the works contracts under to be financed from the loan proceeds. In addition, the project will reduce the wastewater pollution loads currently being discharged without prior treatment into the Morava and Mirusha Rivers which eventually flow into Danube.   

The project will provide improved sanitation services to approximately 110 thousand inhabitants in Gjilan and neighbouring communities and will increase wastewater treatment capacity by 3.3 million cubic meters annually which will result in reduced discharge of untreated wastewater into local water resources.  

The overall objective of the assignment is to facilitate the timely and effective implementation of the project by providing assistance to the Client. The consultant appointed to support the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) with this function (the “Consultant”) will be required to familiarise themselves the financing documents related to the project and other EBRD key documents including those which govern lending policies and practices including, but not limited to,:

The Client will have access to international best practice in the field of project management, including procurement of works, goods and services.
