The assignment was to undertake design reviews, procurement and construction supervision of the AfDB-financed project on Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project in the Prioritised Urban Centres of Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company.

The project is divided in two phases:

• Phase I, which requires the Consultant to conduct review of the existing project designs and re-design, prepare detailed design to cover 4 towns and, tender documents, manage procurement process including institutional capacity building, preparation of an environmental scoping, Environmental Project Briefs and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Studies and
• Phase II: the supervision of the proposed and designed construction works (including capacity building and procurements). The actual scope of works involved design review and construction supervision of weirs, 4 intakes, 2 no. 400 m3/hr water treatment plants, 22 km water transmission mains of size up to ND 600 mm, 3 reinforced concrete reservoirs of 1500 m3 up to 2000 m3, elevated steel tanks up to 750 m3 on 25 m stand, 172 km of distribution network extensions, approx.. 16000 water meter installations, approx. 13 km of service connections, approx. 37km of sewer rehabilitation, 150m sewer pumping main, 1 modified conventional wastewater treatment plants (capacity 3,000 m3/day), wastewater stabilisation ponds.
