Job status: 
For an upcoming project in Egypt, we are currently looking for an expert in occupational health & safety.
Task description: 
  • Prepare a consistent health and safety plan for the entire Programme, monitor the plan at all stages, and follow-up its implementation;
  • Review the risk management plans and the ESMPs prepared by the contractors;
  • Report on the status of the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) plan and guide the PMCF team and the different stakeholders to take corrective actions in a timely manner;
  • Liaise and coordinate activities with the programme implementing entities;
  • Provide training to the WSCs on the HSE measures and on carryout field inspections to ensure the contractor’s adherence to the occupational HSE plan;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the contractors on each site on a spot basis to assure the application of the HSE procedures/plans including the corrective actions taken;
  • Ensure that each ISC has hired certified operational health and safety specialists, monitoring and reporting on the OHS measures on construction sites incl. the corrective actions taken;
  • Provide and implement the HSE guidelines;
  • Review and follow up on the validity of the Insurance Policies provided by the contractors and assure covering the subcontractors and third party;
  • Inspect equipment and work environment to assist the general management in compliance with environmental, safety and health standards.
  • The Health and Safety (HSE) Expert should be a senior level international professional with an engineering background in construction management or related discipline and should have a strong knowledge in construction management.
  • S/he should be fluent in English and should hold more than 15 years relevant professional experience and must have at least 10 years' experience in managing and supervising health & safety risks for major construction of public infrastructure projects.
  • S/he should be qualified by IOSH "Institution of Occupational Safety and Health" and/or the OSHA "Occupational Safety and Health Administration".
  • Under the leadership of the TL, the HSE expert will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with the HSE measures/requirements during the Program's life incl. integrated HSE management, risk management tools, accident prevention, and incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), perform the required evaluation/assessments and define the training needs.
