Project description: 

Mozambique has achieved sustainable economic growth and reduction in poverty levels. The macroeconomic performance has been impressive.

The Mozambique Government recognises Science and Technology as primary sustainable production and development means for the country. Equitable access to Science and Technology is seen as a constitutional right of all Mozambicans in all regions of the country.

Based on this approach the construction of the three Regional Centres for Science and Technology will play an important role in establishing facilities and infrastructure.

The Regional Centres for Science and Technology will contribute to implement the Mozambican strategy in these sectors. Target groups are teachers and students at the secondary level of education and from vocational schools as well as scientists and researchers from Universities and other scientific institutions, employees of the administrations in the Provinces, Districts and Municipalities and small scale entrepreneurs.

Service description: 
  • Programme planning and management, including design work and operational concept;

  • Supervision and quality control of works;

  • Development and elaboration of an operational and a Maintenance Concept;

  • Accounting and certification of financial operations;

  • Monitoring and reporting on Programme progress;

  • Design and provision of furniture and educational materials and equipment; and

  • The technical services of the Consultant include the planning and tendering, supervision of implementation and acceptance of the construction measures as well as assistance in the field of maintenance and repair.

Objectives: 

The main objective of the consultancy is to ensure effective and flexible planning, coordination, successful implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the construction and equipment of the three Regional Centres for Science and Technology Project in close collaboration and through efficient communication with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the KfW.
